It was the state treasury's best year since 1989. It is even possible to balance the budget.

It is a safe bet that this year's deficit in the public finance sector will be record-breakingly good and significantly less than 1 percent of GDP. How much less? Finance Minister Teresa Czerwińska recently estimated it at 0.5 percent of GDP, while the International Monetary Fund spoke of 0.4 percent of GDP. The final result will not be known until spring.
