Anti-crisis shield. How downtime, exemption from social security contributions and wage subsidies work

The anti-crisis shield, which came into force on April 1st, is designed to help us survive the economic downturn and protect jobs. It gives special treatment to the self-employed and those working on temporary contracts.

• Thanks to the regulations contained in the special act, employees can benefit from exemption from social security contributions and downtime benefits at the same time.
• However, the entrepreneur for whom they perform the work must first order such downtime.
• Exemption from social security contributions is available, among others, to sole traders and entrepreneurs employing up to 9 people.

When can you apply for the downtime allowance?

The downtime allowance is granted if the company records a decrease in the sale of goods or services, in terms of quantity or value, of more than 15% of the total turnover in any two consecutive calendar months falling within the period after January 1, 2020, up to the day preceding the date of submission of the application, or not less than 25% of the turnover of any calendar month falling after January 1, 2020, up to the day preceding the date of submission of the application. up to the day preceding the day of submitting the application or not less than 25% of the turnover from any given calendar month falling after January 1, 2020 up to the day preceding the day of submitting the application.
