Pre-Christmas drop in consumer optimism

Consumers are less willing to spend money and are afraid that it will be more difficult for them to save. They are not worried about work, however.

The December consumer sentiment survey of Poles conducted by the Central Statistical Office (GUS) was the weakest in over a year and a half. The Central Statistical Office (GUS) calculates two confidence indicators: the current and the leading indicator. The former fell to 1.1 points. The latter to minus 1.8 points, which means that, in terms of predictions, there are more pessimists than optimists for the first time this year.
