The presence of global brands on the Polish market has a strong impact on the entire economy,” emphasizes Jan Karasek from the consulting firm KPMG, which has calculated how McDonald's affects the domestic market. In addition to the added value of PLN 4.1 billion for the economy, including various tax revenues, the international restaurant chain is responsible for over 40,000 jobs and purchases in the food sector worth several hundred million zlotys. “The fate of McDonald's is closely linked to the economic development of Poland and domestic producers,” says Adam Pieńkowski, CEO of the restaurant chain.
Poland is still very attractive to global brands that invest here because of the location, the potential of our market and the potential of human resources. The presence of such companies affects not only their immediate environment, but also the entire economy and other enterprises. There is additional demand generated by these brands, new jobs, and arrangements with suppliers. What is important, such global brands are also intensively involved in local activities and supporting local communities – says Jan Karasek, partner at KPMG Polska, to the Newseria Biznes agency.
Large companies present on the Polish market have a direct, indirect and induced impact on the economy. The first includes jobs and taxes paid to the state treasury. The second includes, for example, cooperation with a network of suppliers and generating demand by buying products and services from them. In turn, the induced impact is the overall impact on the economy, e.g. driving consumption through the salaries of people employed in a given company.
