Monitoring space debris is a lucrative business

There is so much space debris that it is estimated that every satellite could be destroyed by it. According to experts, the effects of this could pose a threat to telecommunications, agriculture and the entire global economy. That is why the largest companies are developing solutions to remove space debris. This is an opportunity for the Polish space sector, which is actively participating in the fight against space debris. The deorbiting sail developed in Poland prevents the creation of waste, and the optical telescope produced in Poland allows the observation of an object the size of a pixel from a distance of one kilometer.
“Monitoring space debris is not only research work, but it can also be a business opportunity. If all the forecasts about the development of the space sector and satellite infrastructure prove correct, services for monitoring debris and objects in orbit will be increasingly in demand,” emphasizes Paweł Wojtkiewicz, president of the Polish Space Industry Association and space sector director at GMV, in an interview with the Newseria Biznes news agency.
