Unrealistic, unambitious, incompatible with the energy and climate plan – these are the disadvantages of PEP2040.

Until now, we have been one of the leaders in railway line liquidation in Europe. Between 1990 and 2016, the length of routes in operation fell by approx. 27 percent. from approx. 26,000 km to almost 19,000 km. Recently, it has been possible to stop this negative trend. In some regions, there is a real renaissance of local rail connections. Lower Silesia, in particular, is leading the way, with traffic being restored on many former German railway lines.
