16.6% of companies plan new investments in the third quarter

16.6% of the surveyed companies intend to start new investments in the first quarter of this year, i.e. 4.8 percentage points less quarter-on-quarter, as reported by the National Bank of Poland (NBP).
“All indicators describing companies' investment intentions have deteriorated sharply. As in previous crises – in 2001 and 2008/2009 – interest in new investments has fallen to a historical low (the new investment index fell by 4.8 percentage points q/q to 16.6%),” reads the report ‘NBP Quick Monitoring – analysis of the situation in the enterprise sector’.
“At the same time, many investors intend to limit or completely withdraw from investments already started (23% of investors, up 15 percentage points q/q), and the scale of such actions is the largest in the history of this survey; in particular, it is significantly higher than during the 2008/2009 crisis (at that time, there were 14.4% of investors making such declarations),” - the material emphasizes.
