Lewiatan Business Angels

We do not have an industry focus. However, we eliminate projects with a gambling element, financial investment strategies and anything that involves investing in real estate in the first years of operation.

Activity: LBA is a network of so-called “business angels”, i.e. private investors, each of whom acts on his or her own account. The network manager analyzes the submitted investment projects, selects the potentially best ones and presents them to LBA investors.

Origin: LBA is the oldest business angel network in Poland, having been in operation since 2005. From the beginning, it has been supported by a community of entrepreneurs associated with the Lewiatan Confederation, the largest Polish private business organization. However, membership in the Confederation is not required to participate in LBA investments.

At what stage must the project be: In Anglo-Saxon terminology, it is usually SEED, START-UP or, less often, EARLY-GROWTH. It should not be just an idea, but with some effort to implement it.

Investment amount: Usually 200,000 to 1.5 million PLN, although the largest project had 4.2 million PLN

The investment is often made in installments, depending on the implementation of the agreed plans. Often, there is also a loan for the company first, which is then converted into capital.

Examples of investments thanks to angels from LBA:

• MEDICALGORITHMICS - manufacturer and distributor of devices for monitoring heart function in real time
• Apeiron Synthesis is an example of a start-up commercializing state-of-the-art solutions in the field of chemistry (olefin metathesis), thanks to which chemical compounds are created, among others, for the pharmaceutical industry.
• Polidea provides a full range of services related to mobile applications. From requirements analysis, through application and IT service design, to usability analysis.

Advantages of Polish originators: diversity and ability to create teams of several people.

Disadvantages of Polish originators: succumbing to fashions (e.g. there was a fashion for games, mobile applications, now there is a fashion for VR and IoT) and inability to work in a team.
